First day
We will spend all day in Katmandu, visiting the Pashupatinath Temple and knowing the Kumari, the living goddess.
The Pasupatinath Temple is one of the most important sanctuaries dedicated to Shiva and, of course, a very important place for Hinduism. Don’t forget than more than the 80% of population in Nepal is Hindus.
With more than sixteen centuries of existence, was built on both sides of the holy river by Hindus, the Bagmati River. In this visit, you can also wander around the main temple and discover other holy places dedicated to other Hindus goddess.
The Kumari is one of the most curious beliefs that we can find in Nepal: the living goddess. A tradition with more than 700 years, it was born because of the connection between Hinduism and Buddhism. They believe that goddess Taleju choses the body of a little girl to go on existing.
The goddess only can stay in that body until the little girl has her first period. When the girl is chosen, she lives in the Kumari Ghar palace, without any contact with people outside, except only in special dates.Would you ever think that you would know a real goddess?
Second day
We will live a fascinating day visiting Lumbini, the birthplace of Buda.
According to the Buddhism tradition, his mother, Maya Devi, gave birth to Buda in this place. In fact, the specific point of the birth is well-known by the entire Buddhist: it is in the sacred Lumbini Gardens.
In addition to know better the second religion in Nepal, we can enjoy the visit just walking along the eight square kilometers of these marvellous gardens.
